Breast and Endocrine Surgeon
He is Director of the Breast and Endocrine Surgical Unit at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital and is unit supervisor of the General Surgical, Breast and Endocrine fellowship programs.
Dr Wong graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from the University of Queensland in 1999 and went on to complete his general surgical training in various Queensland tertiary hospitals.
After becoming a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2009, he undertook further Breast and Endocrine surgical training at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital and the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in South Australia (2009 to 2011), gaining extensive experience in complex thyroid, minimally invasive parathyroid, and oncoplastic breast surgeries.
In 2012 Dr Wong was appointed as a Visiting Medical Officer for the Breast and Endocrine Unit at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital. In 2019, he travelled to Germany to undertake advanced training in laparoscopic adrenalectomy, posterior approach, with world-renowned Endocrine Surgeon Professor Martin Walz.
Dr Wong is actively involved in medical research and is currently part of a project to develop a 3D breast printing reconstruction program. At the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital he is implementing ROLLIS, a new localisation method for breast cancer treatment, as well as Radiofrequency Ablation treatment for benign thyroid nodule.
